Join me in my efforts to support the
Alpha-1 Foundation!
I learned about Alpha-1 when my oldest brother was diagnosed in the early 1990's. He had years of breathing and respiratory issues that were constantly choked up to asthma. He fought a long battle but became an Alpha Angel on March 25, 2010 at the age of 49.
Due to the information that was given to us at the time, none of his family was tested. We were told the odds were astronomical that any of his (half) siblings would be diagnosed let alone be impacted.
After many years of similar but not as extreme respiratory issues, I advocated for myself and pushed until my primary care physician agreed to order the test. I was diagnosed with Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency on August 4, 2015 at the age of 36. With the help of the my pulmonologist, my augmentation treatments, and the Alpha-1 Foundation I've continued living a pretty normal life and my health has improved.
This cause is very important to me. Your donation will help support the great programs and research conducted to find a cure for Alpha-1. Your contribution is greatly appreciated.
