Please Join me in my efforts to support the Alpha-1 Foundation's search for the cure for Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency and to raise awareness of this rare, genetic disease!

This cause is very important to me because I live with and face the consequences of this disease each and every day. Many of my close friends do as well. We have lost many friends to this disease. Your donation will help support the great programs and research conducted by the Alpha-1 Foundation to find a cure for Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency. Alpha-1 causes, most frequently, severe lung disease such as: COPD, emphysema, chronic bronchitis, bronchiectasis, or lung transplant. It can also cause severe liver disease leading to cirrhosis and liver transplant.  An Alpha-1 Patient can be affected by one, either, or in both ways. In either case, it can happen even to those with no history of smoking or drinking. Alpha-1 is genetic. The gene passes through families. There is currently no cure for Alpha-1 and limited treatments are available.

We are walking to raise awareness of our condition and to raise funds to contribute directly toward dedicated Alpha-1 research and finding a cure to this debilitating disease.
